Filthy Habit!

So, as I mentioned in my last post, my portion of "Filthy Habit" is done. Hopefully we will have some info on when this will be hitting the shelves around the beginning of the year.

I grow a little tired of comics that throw together a list of oddball generic characters to sell any given book... but really... Nuns vs. Werewolves... that is pretty darn cool.

On The Web:

Possibly the coolest way to create comics EVER

New Comics For 11/12/08:

Graphic Novels-

Darwyn Cooke boils superheroes back down to their basics. If the continuity of the monthlies has got you down. Give this book a flip through to cure what ails you.
Buy it! - Batman: Ego and Other Tails

Artists turning Frazetta's famous paintings into stories. I can dig it.
Buy it! - The Fantastic Worlds of Frank Frazetta, Vol. 1

These individual comics are AMAZING! Filled with several interconnected stories and shorts based in the same world. Lucha Libre is one of my very favorite books. I hope this collection contains all the supplemental material.
Buy it! - Luche Libre Volume 1

I don't read the Walking Dead... and every day I kick myself for that. Don't be like me.
Buy it! - The Walking Dead, Book 4

James Jean wins the Eisner for best cover artist every single year... There's a reason for that.
Buy it! - Fables Covers: The Art of James Jean Vol. 1

Ross Campbell creates some of the most beautiful slice of life comics out there. Wet Moon is another series I have not read, but really want to.
Buy it! - Wet Moon Volume 4: Drowned in Evil

Periodicals-

Joshua Hale Fialkov and Monsters... What more do you need?

Who wants to return to the good part of the 90's? I do!

Uhhhhhh. How did I miss out on Issue #1?

Humanoids from the Deep!

Marlena got the RSS feed working the other day so if you use a RSS Feed reader or were subscribed to the old blog, feel free to subscribe to this new one, otherwise you might miss out on cool new stuff we are doing like our newest project: "Humanoids from the Deep"!

That's right Haunted Fire Studio will be creating the art for the comic sequel to the Roger Corman classic "Humanoids from the Deep" published by Bluewater Productions. I am more than delighted to be adding on to the mythos of one of my very favorite monster movies and I don't think any of the fans of the flick will be dissapointed by the spirit of Ed Brisson's amazing script. It's going to be REALLY cool.

I just started on the first issue this month and plan to complete the series around June/July, so I don't know when it will be published, but I'll be posting sketches and work-in-progress shots, as usual, so be sure to stick around.

Also, Wizard World TX is this weekend and I was planning on attending but not having a table, until the generous folks at Lone Star Comics asked if I would appear at their booth on Saturday. So if you happen to be at the con, swing by the Lone Star Comics booth on Saturday from 10am - 12pm and say "Hi". I plan to have some prints, sketchbooks, comics and will be doing monster sketches!

This has been a very crazy week. I finished work on "Filthy Habit" finally, celebrated Halloween, celebrated five wonderful years of marriage to my lovely wife and something else happened....

What was it? I can't remember?....

Oh yeah. That was pretty cool.

What an amazing milestone for the country this is, I hope his time in office goes a long way in healing the bipartisan wasteland politics has become and it's damaging effects on the US of A.

Happy Halloween!!!

Hope everyone had a HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Marlena's been working hard on this new web page so we are excited to get it up and working. It is a work in progress and we'll be adding more content real soon.

I posted this desktop image of the Pumpkin Kids on my previous blog and wanted to repost it here... even though Halloween is over, it's ALWAYS Halloween at Haunted Fire Studio.

We'll have an RSS feed up soon, so keep an eye out.
