NEW COMICS FOR 10/24/07

These are a few of the comics coming out tomorrow that caught my eye.

Crawl Space is a new ongoing, no holds barred, horror anthology of short stores with a great artist and a great writer. It's the kinda thing I've always wanted to be involved in. I'm jealous as all hell. The first story is about porn star zombies... what a way to kick off a series. I'm really looking forward to this if you can't tell.

Dean Yeagle is amazing. Don't miss out on this art book.

Neozoic is a new comic from a new publisher that has some really interesting projects.

I didn't even know this existed! Probably too young for me, but how cool is it that there's a Shaun the Sheep comic? Who doesn't love Shaun the Sheep?

I've never bought any of the Hack/Slash books, even though it seems like it would be right up my alley. At face value, it looks a little too much of a parody for my liking, but that's without reading any of them. Their new artist, Emily Stone, is really good (and super nice too) so I'm planning on picking it up and finally checking it out.

I've heard that She Hulk is an amazing book, but I never bought it. Peter David takes over with this issue and that sounds like a good jumping on point for anyone, like myself, that was hesitant.

Cool beans! A new Spirit Hardcover of collected material from the original series. This is a "best of" so it's not in chronological order, but I don't own any of the old issues so this will work out pretty good for me.

More collected Spirit action, but this time it's from the brand spankin' new series. If you have not been reading the new series, I highly recommend you check out this hardcover. It's great stuff.

I love the Flash... I love Mark Waid on the Flash!

Did I mention I love the Flash. This 80-page giant collects a few Silver Age Stories. Weee!

Comments:
Re: Crawl Space -- Dude, any time you want to be involved in an ongoing, no holds barred horror anthology of short stories with a mediocre writer and a great artist, you've got my phone number. I've got a million mediocre horror stories to tell!

Re: Neozoic -- Had the chance to read this last week. The art is really nice (apart from a weirdly proportioned guy with the biggest pot belly I've ever seen on a warrior... seriously, he makes Groo look svelte), but the whole thing took me about four minutes to read. Ditto Atomic Robo; in fact, the only Red 5 offering I've thought was worth the $3 was Abyss, which was meaty enough to keep me interested throughout.

Re: She-Hulk #22 -- I like Peter David too, but I read this last week as well, and I have to say, this issue pales in comparison to every single issue Dan Slott did beforehand. Please pick up She-Hulk Vol. 1: Single Green Female instead of this new issue, and start from the beginning of a run that was smarter, funnier, and had more heart (and more arcane knowledge of Marvel trivia) than any book ever had a right to. You'll thank me.

Re: The new Spirit collection -- Seconded. Amazing.

Also -- comics are for dorks. You're a dork.

HAHA, same to ya nerd.

We'll see how the public reacts to our first official swing at exploitation horror, maybe I'll get my wish. :)

I was afraid Neozoic might pan out like that as the preview had like three word balloons.

I will buy that She-hulk collection then, those were the books I wanted to read anyway.

Thanks Dave, you are the best!
