A bit of the old catch-up.
Not a whole lot going on, but Ben and I have had a pretty productive couple of days.
To cap the whirlwind weekend off, on Sunday we decided to take some of our craptastic old CDs that we no longer wanted anymore to some local shops to try to sell them. This was sparked by us finding out that we could no longer squeeze even ONE more CD into our collection. So we made the decision to go ahead and sell the garbage that's been laying a cloud of stink on our otherwise most impressive music collection.
I think one of the main reasons that I did not want this day to ever come was because I have some pretty questionable CDs in my collection that I felt a little embarrassed by, and would not want anyone knowing that I actually owned them. I know, who gives a shit, right? I really don't, but there you go.
Our first stop, Forever Young, probably, no, definitely, THE coolest music store in the area. These guys know their shit and are really cool and nice. I always find something that I've been looking for when I go there and I just FEEL cool when I walk in. I'm very aware that I am indeed, NOT cool, but the fact that I'm IN there looking at music, makes me feel better about myself. Go figure.
They ended up giving us WAY more money than we thought they would so we even got some cash BACK from them after the 5 CDs of "good" music that we ended up buying, which I thought was a BIG bonus. One of the CDs I bought was this:
I've been looking for this for a while, and of course, I found it at Forever Young. This is a collaboration with one of my FAVORITE artists of all TIME: Matthew Sweet and Susanna Hoffs, you might remember her as the lead singer for a little known band called, The Bangles. (Its called sarcasm, folks.) They have a myspace page, check it out if you have the chance. Its the cat's pajamas.
We hit two more stores and ended up with 5 CDs, 2 DVDs and got ourselves some lunch, while only shelling out $2 of our own money. Pretty impressive for a bunch of CDs that I would probably not even give to my friends as GAG gifts... (I was VERY experimental with my music tastes in high school)
This morning when Ben and I left the house to go to work, we were met with a lot of commotion in the form of a mother cat and her two kittens that have apparently decided that our spiky bush by our carport would make the ideal home! I felt really bad because one of the kittens beat cheeks through the corner of our backyard fence, and the other one stayed put. This put the mother cat in a bit of a pickle, because she came out from under the bush and rested right under the car and hissed at us. I think she couldn't decide whether to go after the scampering kit or stay put and make sure her other kat was not going to be stomped by these big hulking humans that were in her face.
Ben stood outside the car and I slowly navigated it away from the mother cat and we drove off to work. I hope they were reunited today, since they were not under our bush when we got home. Though I wouldn't be either since its about 5,000 degrees outside today. Hopefully they found some shade and maybe I'll see them again tomorrow morning!
I know, I'm a total dork, but I love cats and its taken everything for me to not go looking for them and put food out for them and call them my own...feral or NOT.
