19 - SDCC Day 3 and another Wonder Woman image

Here's another image of Ben's Wonder Woman pinup. Isn't she lovely?
Ok, time for Day 3 of SDCC 2006! Ben and I had to get up early to try to make it to the Hellboy Animated panel because we're nerds about Hellboy and we HAD to see it. Of course, due to traffic, the shuttle didn't arrive in time to get us to the convention center, so we had to take a cab.

Apparently, the traffic was SO bad this year because there were so many people attending, that the shuttles were running late for every day of the con for the first couple of hours.

So we get to the con and beat cheeks to the panel room only to be told that the entrance is on the OTHER side of the rooms. The side we're on is exit only. Groan. So we beat cheeks to the other side of the panel rooms and make it inside.

They started off showing a small clip from the cartoon, which looked AMAZING. It was a bit rough in places, and we were told this wasn't a final clip of it, but I thought it was really great.

Mike Mignola, Sean "Cheeks" Galloway, and Guillermo del Toro were on hand to talk all things Hellboy, and tell us about how Sean was picked as the artist. The DVD of the cartoon comes out in February and its going to be shown on Cartoon Network's Toonami around Halloween. I can't WAIT.

After the panel was over, we received the ONLY freebie I got from anything the WHOLE time:

Hellboy T-shirt! But it was WELL worth it. And since Ben and I are together, we got two! WOOT! I thinks that brings my t-shirt tally from the con to about 10. Why, oh why do I think I need more t-shirts? I don't know.

But I got a BUNCH from the dumbrella booth and they are spiffy. The Gamera one is my favorite. Because Gamera is really neat, Gamera is full of meat. We all love you GAM-ER-A!

Ok, so after the Hellboy panel, we had our Viper signing which went well, thanks again to everyone that stopped by and chatted us up. Ben always gets mad at me because I don't feel like I need to be there behind the table at our signings. I just don't think anyone really cares about the colorist, its all about the artists and then the writers, and I feel like I have nothing to do while I'm there. So if you see me at a con, stroke my ego by telling me how wonderful my colors are even if you think they look like baby puke. I'll love you forever if you do.

Then we stopped by the booth of Rhode Montijo (he's on the right), who was sharing a booth with Jamie Baker.

If you haven't read Pablo's Inferno, I implore you to do so. Its one of the best comics I've ever read. Its really cute and very heartfelt. Rhode is ALSO one of the NICEST guys I've EVER met. He seems genuinely grateful when people stop by and he's always got time to talk to a fan. I bought his new book, Cloud Boy and another t-shirt. Check his work out, its awesome!

Coming up, the Power of the Dark Crystal panel and DINNER!
